Arizona vs. Purdue: Keys to a victory

If Arizona is going to beat Purdue, it is going to be for numerous reasons, ranging from containing Carl Landry to getting out and running. If Arizona wins, here are some likely reasons why.

  • Ivan Radenovic. Radenovic poses some pretty big match up problems for Purdue. The Boilermakers lack height in a major way and if Arizona can get Jordan Hill involved in the game, Landry will likely have to guard him. That leaves Radenovic more able to score and allows Arizona to play to its strengths.

Radenovic is going to pose major problems for Purdue if he is hitting from outside, because Purdue struggles on the glass as it is. If Purdue's bigger players are forced to guard Radenovic outside, Arizona is going to have a much easier job of grabbing the rebound and starting the break. When Radenovic plays well, Arizona follows.

Arizona has plenty of players capable of scoring, but Radenovic could be the key offensively for Arizona.

  • Mustafa Shakur. It sounds like a broken record by now, but Arizona will go as far as Shakur takes it. That may or may not be a good thing, depending on the confidence you have in Shakur.

He obviously has not been playing as well as he is probably capable of playing, which is a good indication of why Arizona has not been winning many games.
