2009 quarterback isn't thinking recruiting yet
There was a time when it seemed like big-time quarterback prospects coming from the state of Texas were far and few between. However, in recent years the state has produced a number of top-flight prospects, ranging from Vince Young in 2002 to Rhett Bomar in 2004 to Ryan Mallett in 2007.
The Class of 2009 might have two of the best prospects the state has ever seen at the position in Houston Cy Ridge dual-threat star Russell Shepard and Austin Lake Travis gunslinger Garrett Gilbert
Throughout the spring, Shepard has been a name that everyone around the country that follows recruiting is starting to know very well. After taking unofficial visits to Texas and Texas A&M (offered) in the last two months, it's safe to say that the buzz around Shepard is as strong as any sophomore recruit in the recent history of Lone Star State recruiting.
