The Texas Longhorns offered scholarships to and gained commitments from three out-of-state players in 2007, but only one of the non-Texans stuck with his original pledge. Quarterback John Brantley switched from Texas to Florida, and tight end Zack Pianalto changed from the Longhorns to the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Only tight end Blaine Irby signed with Texas when it was time to send in his letter of intent, and the Ventura (CA) St. Bonaventure blue-chip is still thrilled with his decision. But, that doesn't mean there was not a brief moment of doubt over the course of Irby's recruitment.
