Bicknell's departure leaves a giant hole to fill
Well, it was nice while it lasted.
Jack Bicknell, Jr. drifted across the state of Texas from Louisiana like a freak January hurricane, made an immediate impact upon his arrival in Lubbock, and proceeded to shower the Texas Tech offensive line with wisdom and enthusiasm until late April.
But just when the Red Raiders were becoming accustomed to his beneficent presence, Hurricane Bicknell got caught up in the jet-stream and is now on his way to Boston College, his alma mater dear.
Texas Tech's loss is Boston College's gain, that's for certain.
From the moment he signed his name to a contract, Bicknell produced results. The Red Raiders' recruiting efforts, hitherto a bit on the stagnant side, immediately picked up and Tech signed one of the best offensive line classes in the country, with Jarrod Gooch, Lonnie Edwards and Mickey Okafor the plums. That that was Bicknell's area of responsibility was hardly coincidental.
