In 2007 Andrew Robinson will take the helm for the Syracuse Orange, replacing senior Perry Patterson as signal caller. While Coach Greg Robinson made it seem as if Andrew Robinson were competing with junior Cameron Dantley for the position this spring, in reality the job is Robinson's to lose.
"He [Andrew Robinson] ran with the first team all day today and I think that tells you something," Coach Robinson said after the Orange's annual spring game on April 21st. "We see him right now at this moment as our first team quarterback."
Robinson looked impressive in the spring game, completing 12 of his 19 pass attempts for 146 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jawad Nesheiwat.
"Not only did he throw the ball well, but I thought he directed well," Coach Robinsons said of his sophomore quarterback. "For a person that's been here nine months, you like seeing that."
Robinson saw limited playing time behind senior Perry Patterson last season and struggled when he took the field, as one might expect of a freshman quarterback. Robinson completed three of his eight attempts last season and threw both a touchdown and an interception.
