Iowa State offers 2010 legacy Barnes

If you're going to own in-state recruiting, there's no time like the present to think well into the future. Iowa State took a big stride towards landing a second 2010 basketball prospect from Iowa this week by extending the first scholarship offer received by Ames (Iowa) freshman Harrison Barnes.

The Cyclones already have a verbal commitment from 2010 big man Jordan Dykstra from Rock Valley and now the ISU staff has zeroed in on Barnes, a 6-foot-4, 160-pound small forward legacy from right in Ames. Barnes' father, Ron Harris, was an Iowa State standout in the mid-80s and one of the key players in the resurgence of Cyclone basketball under Johnny Orr. And his AAU coach - Jake Sullivan - knows a thing or two about playing winning hoops at ISU as well.

Sullivan, director of basketball for the All Iowa Attack AAU program and coach of the 15U team that Barnes plays on this year, said the Cyclones are just ahead of the pack when it comes to seeing what Barnes has to offer.
