Lucas Picks Florida

It's Florida.

Jai Lucas announced at a news conference Monday afternoon that he will sign with the Gators over Kentucky and Oklahoma State in a recruiting battle that dragged on for months but ended with Florida picking up a true point guard to bolster its already impressive class. Coach Billy Donovan might not be finished getting players in 2007, either.

Lucas, rated the sixth-best point guard and No. 42 player overall in the senior class after averaging 26.3 points and 7.5 assists this past season, was one of only two remaining players in the Rivals Top 50 who had not decided on his college destination.

The only one left now is Huntington (W.Va.) power forward Patrick Patterson, who has narrowed his list to Florida, Kentucky and Duke. He is expected to announce his choice at a Wednesday news conference. Patterson is rated the second-best power forward and 15th best player in the class.
