Searcy excited for mid-June arrival

The days are counting down until Decatur (GA) safety Da-Norris Searcy arrives on the North Carolina campus. The 6-0, 198-pounder has enjoyed a busy spring, producing an unlikely state finals berth in track.

"During the spring I ran track; I made it to the state finals in the 300 meter hurdles; I finished fifth in state. It was a good accomplishment, considering I just learned the hurdles two weeks before," Searcy said.

In addition to his track responsibilities, Searcy has been preparing for his arrival in Chapel Hill by hitting the weight room and running in order to condition. The UNC coaches have provided encouragement by letting him know the significance of being prepared when he arrives at the college level.
