A season of firsts
Every football season has plenty of firsts. For a school credited as the birthplace of college football, this year is no exception. For some Scarlet Knights, it will be their first year as college players. For others, it will mean adjusting to their first starting assignments or moves to new positions.
One of the players who could be feeling the most weight is sophomore wide receiver Kenny Britt, who is adjusting to life as the team's star receiver.
"Coming here last year was like a dream come true," said Britt. "The first day I got here I was nervous. I thought I wasn't going to fit in, but the guys really made me feel like I was part of the team. I was 195 pounds when I came in last year, I'm 208 now. I'm much bigger and must faster. My confidence level is way higher than last year. There's going to be a lot of footballs in the air this year."
Another player who will be watched with a close eye is fullback Jack Corcoran. Only a sophomore, Corcoran will fill the vacancy left by Brian Leonard, who is already a legend at Rutgers.
"I'm trying to stay calm and loose and play my game," Corcoran stated. "I'm not letting the Brian Leonard pressure get to me. I'm just trying to help the team any way I can."
