Cats look to answer line questions
Kansas State coach Ron Prince, once an offensive line coach at the University of Virginia, is focused on that position group in particular as his Wildcats prepare for the 2007 season opener at Auburn. Prince made as much extremely clear at Kansas State's annual media day held last weekend.
"Offensively, our offensive line is the big question we've got to answer," he said. "We brought in some personnel to do that. We're looking at the lineups and are moving them around. We've got a decent idea of where the skill level is."
It's safe to say that junior Jordan Bedore has locked down a starting job. One would also assume that junior college transfer Alesana Alesana is penciled in at left tackle. Anything else, including Bedore's position, is little more than speculation.
Bedore started at center last season and figures to hold that same job in '07, but Prince likes redshirt freshman Trevor Viers as well at that position and has also converted defensive lineman Zach Kendall to the center spot. If Viers were to step in at center Bedore would slide to a guard spot, where he could be joined as a starter by senior Logan Robinson. Robinson is currently working at both right and left guard.
With a number of players capable of playing multiple positions on the line don't be surprised if plenty of shuffling takes place between now and the season opener.
