PRACTICE NOTEBOOK: Duke starts fall camp

The Blue Devils kicked off fall camp bright and early Monday morning, as they took the practice fields for the first time in nearly four months. As most teams do, the Blue Devils had to shake off the cobwebs that come with opening day. Despite the obstacles of the first day, Duke head coach Ted Roof was pleased with his team's effort during the two hour and 20 minute session.

"It was a good effort," Roof said. "Certainly, it was the first practice and you can tell that. I want to get the tempo better, but with that many new guys our tempo has got to improve and it will - we will make sure of that.

"It's great to get going. It's good to get out here and get to work and work on playing football. Everybody was excited to be out here and get going. So, it's time to play football."

MICHAEL TAUILIILI SUSPENDED: According to Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police, Tauiliili was arrested Saturday on charges including failing to stop after an accident, driving while impaired, assault by point a gun, carrying a concealed weapon and simple assault.

These charges resulted in a suspension on Sunday and warranted these comments from Roof Monday morning.

"We're going to let the facts play out, investigate and make sure we understand the truth to this matter before anybody rushes to do anything, but there are two sides to every story," Roof said.
