Closed for the fall

STILLWATER - And with that, the Oklahoma State football team goes into stealth mode until the 2007 season opener against Georgia.

Tuesday marked the end of the open practice slate for the Cowboys, which meant the media members and OSU fans only had two more chances to see the team work out before Mike Gundy closed the doors for good to begin installing the brunt of the playbook for the fall.

Tuesday also marked the first two-a-days of the season. The Pokes started things off at 10 a.m. on the Boone Pickens Stadium turf, practicing for about two hours before taking some time off to eat, rest, watch some video and get back on the field. Then, at 5:45 p.m., OSU went back to work on the practice field just east of Gallagher-Iba Arena and worked out until around 8 p.m.

"We had a really good practice this morning and a nice practice this afternoon," Gundy said. "And coach (Rob) Glass just really stressed them. I'm surprised he was going to run them, but he felt like he needed to run them. I saw that they just ran four gassers. That's quite a bit on a two-a-day but that's good."

And how does coach Gundy feel about his squad after just seven practices?
