Hawkeyes add Texas tight end

The Iowa Hawkeyes have landed their eighth verbal commitment in the recruiting class of 2008, as Texas tight end Jonathan Gimm made his decision late last night. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Gimm, who hails from Westfield, Texas, chose the Hawkeyes after receiving a scholarship offer from the coaching staff less than 48 hours ago.

Gimm, who was born and raised in the Hawkeye State before moving to Texas, currently has an older brother attending the University of Iowa, along with family located in the Bettendorf area.

Gimm, who was an all-district selection last season, chose the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Nebraska, Boise State, Kansas, Rice, and Louisiana Tech.
