Chris Wilson has a competitive situation at DE
Oklahoma defensive ends coach Chris Wilson's two seasons in Norman have been very different.
When he took over the job at OU following the 2004 season, Wilson might have thought about turning around and heading back to Colorado, the school he left to come back to his alma mater.
Wilson started his Oklahoma coaching career with a seemingly bare cupboard. Alonzo Dotson, a potential superstar in the making, had just been ruled academically ineligible for the 2005 season.
John Williams, another big-time prospect, had blown out a knee and missed the 2005 season.
And Larry Birdine, a preseason All Big 12 candidate, was lost for the 2005 season during fall practice when he tore a bicep muscle.
When Wilson looked at his depth chart he saw Calvin Thibodeaux, an undersized but effective senior and C.J. Ah You, a junior college transfer with lots of talent, but little experience.
The only other quality candidate was true freshman Auston English, who simply wasn't ready to make an impact at the time.
