One-on-one: Jason Smith
Jason Smith is a Junior at Baylor from W.T. White High School in Dallas, Texas. He has played tight end and offensive tackle for the Bears, starting every game at right tackle for Baylor in 2006. He saw every snap in all but one game and played more snaps than anyone else on the offense.
He was one of Baylor's three representatives for Baylor at Big 12 media days and has moved from right tackle to left tackle for the 2007 season. He is considered a leader by his teammates and is a candidate for All-Big 12 honors.
He brings a lot to the table on an off the field so we went one-on-one with J-Smooth.
What is your take on the camp so far?
Everything is going real good and smooth. Nobody is taking any steps backward. Everyone is going forward and working on the things that they need to work on daily.
How do you feel going into your second season on the spread offense?
I feel good about the spread offense. Coach (Lee) Hays and coach (Eric) Schnupp and coach (Guy) Morriss - the offensive line staff - they have us well prepared. We're working hard to make sure things don't happen like they happened in the past.
I feel a lot more confident in what I'm doing. My team, my offensive line, my coaches I understand what they're saying more. It's not just one or two guys that understand, all five of us understand what we're doing up front and it's just triggering throughout the whole offense.
