Hogs target JUCO linebacker

Garden City (Kan.) Community College should have a strong defense this season led by All-American linebacker [db]J.R. Bryant[/db].

Bryant, 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, helped lead the defensive charge as a true freshman last season. He collected 81 tackles, including 51 unassisted, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble.

"We have a very good team this fall," Bryant said. "We lost some of the big linemen, but we have more speed."

Bryant will graduate in May and have three years to play two at the next level. The former Peach State standout isn't thinking about where he will spend his next two years, but instead he's thinking of Garden City.
