Kelly says receiving record is the goal

As good as Malcolm Kelly was for the Sooners last year, it's easy to forget he hadn't been on a football field since the Fiesta Bowl before the start of fall football.

A torn meniscus suffered against Boise State sidelined Kelly until the Sooners started back up in early August. With two weeks of practices under his belt, Malcolm finally flashed his unique abilities when he went high in the air to snag a touchdown pass against Marcus Walker in Saturday's first major scrimmage. Editor caught up with Kelly to talk about his recovery, his goals for 2007 and his maturity over the last two years in Norman. Have you been able to make plays like the touchdown catch you made in the scrimmage during practices or have you been shaking off a little bit of rust in fall so far?
Malcolm Kelly:
I've been shaking off a lot of rust. During 7-on-7 in the summertime it was okay but now you've got pads on and you've got to come in and out of your breaks. I'm just really getting all my confidence back.

When I jump up I get my confidence back that I can go get the ball. So Saturday was the first time you've seen yourself back making those types of plays?
I did it early in two-a-days and I've done it a few times but I think the last few practices I've finally got my confidence back to go and do it. That's a major strength so I've got to go and get it back.
