True Freshman Make Their Mark

Trinton Sturdivant - First true freshman to start in a season opener for the Bulldogs since 1979 (Mike Fellows).

Bruce Figgins - Started over senior Coleman Watson and redshirt freshman NaDerris Ward. He is the first tight end to start as a true freshman since 1964 (records are incomplete as to who that player was). Since then, the only tight end to start as a freshman during a season was Shannon Mitchell in 1990.

Figgins 11 yard touchdown reception was the first catch of his career. Interestingly, both Tripp Chandler and Coleman Watson caught a touchdown pass on their first reception as well. I guess we all know what Ward will do sometime soon.

Rennie Curran - Entering the action in the second quarter, Curran's one tackle was an assist with Dannell Ellerbe to stop tight end Brandon Pettigrew in the 4th quarter.

Guard Clint Boling and cornerback Vance Cuff played in the second half.

Redshirt freshmen that saw their first action: OG Chris Davis, FL Tony Wilson, SAF Reshad Jones, TB Knowshon Moreno, SAF Quintin Banks, FB Fred Munzenmaier, FB Shaun Chapas, LB Darryl Gamble, LB Akeem Dent, DE Demarcus Dobbs, DE Michael Lemon, OG Kiante Tripp, OT Josh Davis, TE NaDerris Ward, DT Brandon Wood, DT Ricardo Crawford.
