Texas A&M Hot 12

Texas A&M showed what so many were waiting for thus far in the season as they reeled off 547 yards of offense in a 54-14 pounding of the University of Louisiana at Monroe Saturday at Kyle Field. There were numerous Aggies who had big days in the win.

That passing game opened up as Stephen McGee picked apart the ULM secondary, and the running game had yet another 300-yard outing.

The defense gave up 122 yards passing to one of the worst passing offenses in the nation in the first half, but shut down the passing game in the second allowing just 11 yards on three completions.

Here is this week's A&M Hot 12:

Mike Goodson
Goodson has been contained for the most part through the Aggies' first two games, but Saturday against ULM Goodson broke out with his first 100-yard game of the season with 113 yards on just 11 carries and one touchdown. That's 10.3 yards per carry. Goodson had a number of runs where he changed direction, juked defenders and made big gains out of runs that shouldn't have been gains at all.
Stephen McGee
For all the "crap" McGee has gotten through the first two games and the passing game, he came out firing Saturday against ULM and racked up 237 yards and a touchdown through the air. What was more impressive than his numbers was he ability to check down his progressions and hit third and fourth receivers. He also waited for receivers to get into a window and led the team down the field methodically on each of A&M's drives…and he did it with his arm rather than his legs.
Martellus Bennett
Is there any question that Bennett is McGee's go-to guy? With an apparent emphasis on the passing game against ULM, Bennett was McGee's favorite target with six catches for 98 yards. Bennett is a threat everytime he touches the ball to reel off big runs after the catch as well.
