Step in the wrong direction

Stanford's 2007 season, up until the Arizona State game, was pretty impressive, all things considered. Sure, the Cardinal had lost both of its Pac-10 games by a combined 52 points, but the team actually looked competent and gave signs of hope.

That was until Stanford's 41-3 loss to ASU on Saturday. Simply put, there's no excuse for what happened. The Sun Devils are a decent football team but no way should Stanford score 17 on UCLA, 31 on Oregon and only three on ASU.

"We played great on defense and what can you say when you hold somebody to -2 rushing?" ASU head coach Dennis Erickson asked.

The answer? The team with -2 rushing yards isn't getting the job done, to say the least.

Anthony Kimble had actually been pretty impressive up until the Arizona State game, but he definitely wasn't up to par, carrying the ball 10 times for 20 yards. Needless to say, that won't cut it at this level.
