McGee gets a note from overzealous fan
It was early Friday morning two weeks ago when Texas A&M got off the bus after a long and disappointing trip to Miami. After losing to the Hurricanes 34-17, the Aggies had a long trip to think about things and upon returning home all they wanted to do was get their exhausted bodies into bed.
But another obstacle sat in front of quarterback Stephen McGee as he got off the bus. A note was attached to his truck throwing insults as the junior signal caller. Neither McGee, nor offensive lineman Kirk Elder, who also read the note, went into detail on what it said, but it got a riled up response from Elder.
"I was so pissed and I didn't get any sleep that night. It was a note that apparently an Aggie left. They didn't have the (guts) to put their name on it," Elder said. "To go after a guy like Steve who has more class, I can't say enough good things about Steve, but when I saw that note I took it away from him and I told him I love him and that I'm behind him and this team is behind him and we don't want him going anywhere. It was just despicable."
McGee was obviously disappointed in the note, but he said that he understands that it's a part of playing college football at the highest level.
