Ringer's big day overshadowed by loss

EAST LANSING - Michigan State junior running back Javon Ringer has been on a tear as of late, registering three-straight 100-plus yard games. However, the Spartans have managed just one victory - losing consecutive decisions - in that span.

Ringer has totaled 474 yards in the past three games, with his best effort (185 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries) happening in Saturday's overtime loss to Northwestern Wildcats, 48-41.

"I gave 100 percent, but I just wish it could've been more, so we could've got the win," said Ringer, who also had six receptions for 54 yards. "I had a couple people meet me in the lock room and say, 'Good game, Javon. Good game, Javon.' But that's nothing. I wanted the win. I don't care how many yards or touchdowns I have. I would've been fine with none of it as long as we got the win."

The loss adds another chapter to a series that has been a wild one over the past few seasons, and another missed opportunity for the MSU program under first-year head coach Mark Dantonio.
