Buffs reach midway point of the '07 season

BOULDER, Colo. - Following the 2006 season, then first-year head coach Dan Hawkins was asked what grade he would give his team for their performance during the season.

"F minus," he said. "I'm one of those guys where you can't put makeup over a pimple. When you're 2-10 you're 2-10. I think you face up to that and you own up to that."

The Buffaloes are now midway through the 2007 campaign and they have already won twice as many games as they did a year ago.

What midseason grade would Coach Hawkins give his team?

"Again, I'm one of those guys where you are never there and you are never not there," he said. "I always tell our guys that the average ought to be good, your average performance ought to be good. I think we are getting there and getting used to that but there are a lot of games to be played."

"My grade right now is 4-2 because that is what our record is," said starting quarterback Cody Hawkins when asked the same question. "Obviously our job is to win football games and put enough points on the scoreboard to win. We are either getting that done or we are not."
