Lane guarantees victory in Lubbock
Texas A&M running back Jorvorskie Lane has always been a big man. Listed at 268 pounds, and thought to be anywhere from 280-290, Lane has been the steadiest contributor this season for the Aggies. In A&M's only loss of the season to Miami, the game was literally taken out of Lane's hands as he only had two carries.
Tuesday, however, Lane did something else that is big - huge even. It's one thing that sports writers are always waiting to hear, and cringing to hear at the same time - the guarantee.
Lane did it Tuesday, guaranteeing a win over Texas Tech in Lubbock Saturday. The Aggies haven't won in Lubbock since 1993. To put that into perspective Lane was only six at the time.
"We're going to win in 2007 (in Lubbock)," Lane said. "That's a guarantee. I promise you."
His reasoning for the guarantee stems from what the Aggies have gone through as far as distractions before having to come back from 17 points down to take control of the Big 12 South against Oklahoma State last weekend.
"It's just our team and our team chemistry is so strong that I feel that nothing can break us," Lane said. "What we went through with that situation with Coach Fran and we were down 17 points last weekend, it's just a real big motivation thing right now. Other than that we just need to go play."
