NU Notes: Callahan wants to honor '97 team with a win
One of the bigger highlights this weekend will be the 10-year anniversary of the 1997 Nebraska National Championship team.
The '97 team will be back in Lincoln for a reunion and they will be honored during Saturday's Oklahoma State game.
NU head coach Bill Callahan said on Wednesday that he hopes members of the '97 squad will be able to come around the team and provide words of encouragement heading into Saturday's game.
"I'm hopeful they can be out at our walk-thru with our players and we encourage that strongly," Callahan said. "We always welcome them and it's no different than any other week. It's great to have them back and welcome them to the university to really honor them for what they've accomplished.
"That's a great achievement when you win a national championship, and to their credit they deserved to be honored. As I said on Tuesday, the best way we can honor them is by winning the game. That's the standard of excellence that it's all about. I think our players will be excited if they came by and visited with them a little bit."
