Questions abound as practice tips off

Are the football team's six losses making you pine for basketball season?

Well, take comfort in the fact that Jim Boeheim and the Orange took their first step toward the 2007-08 season on Friday afternoon when they held their annual basketball media day and first practice of the fall.

The Orange will be working hard to get up to speed before their season officially begins on November 12th when Siena visits the Dome to begin the preseason NIT.

Uncertainty, potential, and talent will be the buzzwords surrounding the Orange team this season. Although the Orange only return one starter from last years' team (junior guard Eric Devendorf), their freshman class is as good as ever.

Boeheim was cautiously optimistic about the Orange's prospects heading into this season.

"Everybody's excited about the freshman as are we," Boeheim said of his nationally touted recruiting class. "Obviously you don't know what freshmen are going to do until you get into a game situation. We expect a lot out of them, as does everybody, and I think they expect a lot out of themselves."
