TAVARES GOODEN Q&A

Q: Is this team intimidated on the road?

Gooden: If you're scared, go to church. That's what they say. You can't let the crowd rile you. You have to go out there, take the crowd intimidation, go out there and hit hard. The opening kickoff knock somebody out. We've done it so many times in the past. You go out there, knock that dude out and the crowd is silent. Three-and-out, and the crowd is silent. They're going to make noise - that's what they're there for. They're a bunch of noisemakers. I did this thing called Metronome at St. Thomas (Aquinas High School). They put headphones on your ears and you clap your hands on the beat. It blocked out the crowd. They'd play music, and it's to see if you could still stay on the beat. We had headphones, different sounds - cow bells, all of that - but you had to clap your hands and stay on the beat. The crowd has not been a factor. It's just going out there and playing, your team against the other team's will.
