Cantrell just wants to hear Rock Chalk

Harper making progress

Cornerback Kendrick Harper has been getting more playing time the last two games after being sidelined with an injury through the non conference season. Harper is expected to play a bigger role as the season progresses.

"Kendrick has a great attitude and a great outlook on the work he has had to do," Mangino said. "He has had a lot of catching up a lot on the mental aspect and even the physical aspect so I am really pleased with the way he is coming along."

Keep doing what you're doing

Another defensive back that has gotten the coaches attention is safety Justin Thornton. Thornton had a key interception against Colorado and was named co defensive player of the week. While the coaches have noticed Thornton's improvement, Mangino wants to keep Thornton in his current role.

A lot of his action has come on passing situations when the team brings in an extra defensive back.
