Bruins visit Washington State

In a perfect world, if you are a Bruin fan anyway, UCLA with their 5-2 (4-0 Pac 10) season would take care of business against Washington State, who stand at 2-5 (0-4), today when the Bruins take on those pesky Cougars in a lovely hamlet they call Pullman in Eastern Washington.

Bruin fans know this is not a perfect world, especially this season. For some odd reason the Cougars give UCLA a tough time and it doesn't matter what the records of the two teams are.

Case in point, the charitable Bruins gave the Cougars their first victory in a revamped Martin Stadium back in 1979 when Wazzu drubbed UCLA 17-14. The month of this loss was October.

The Bruins have the advantage over the Cougs winning nine games, losing seven and one draw in Pullman.

This has been a season where the strange has become reality and the only thing predictable is there will be a surprise and a lot of head scratching Saturday Evening when going over the scores.

How does this game fit into the grand scheme of things? The history between these two teams follows the patterns being set this season.
