Interest high for Sibley trio
There are high expectations once again at Henry Sibley this year as Tom Dasovich's program has good talent throughout. Three of his players are currently being recruited at the division one level including 6-foot-6 forward Mike Bruesewitz. Bruesewitz is one of two Warriors with division one offers and one of three Sibley players on the Minnesota radar.
Before current Marquette freshman Trevor Mbakwe ditched Henry Sibley prior to his senior year he helped put the school on the map. But his creative switch last year only drove Dasovich and his team to work harder and what they did was finish the year with the best record in school history at 21-7.
The climb up the mountain for the Warriors has only just begun as they return three starters, all of their bench from last year, and add two division one basketball players to their every day rotation.
Last year the 6-foot-7 Chris Halvorsen started at small forward for the Warriors playing as the third scoring option and defending the opposition's top scorer. Sophomore Jake Kreuser spent most of his freshman year fine tuning his skills on the junior varsity as a pair of seniors (Conference MVP Anders Halvorsen, who is now at the University of St. Thomas, and Phil Haig, who is now a quarterback for the Illinois Fighting Illini) ate up most of the frontcourt minutes last season. This summer the Warriors were fortunate to add Bruesewitz who moved into the district from Litchfield as his father's DNR job was transferred to the Mendota Heights area.
