Jerod getting more phone calls, may look around

DeSoto defensive lineman Tony Jerod got a rare in-season break last weekend. Jerod sat out DeSoto's 66-14 victory over Arlington Sam Houston along with fellow blue chipper Cyrus Gray.

Although Gray had suffered a high ankle sprain two weeks ago and was still in the process of recovery, Jerod's absence was more about protecting him against an undermanned team.

In addition, DeSoto faces Arlington Bowie this week at DeSoto in the Eagles' biggest game of the season. The winner takes the District 8-5A title, and also faces an easier road through the playoffs.

The 6-foo-3, 249-pound four-star prospect is committed to Texas A&M, but is gaining heavy interest from USC.
