Preview: KU vs. Fort Hays State

After a blowout win over the Pitt State Gorillas last week, the fourth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks look to close out exhibition play Tuesday night against another instate opponent. Of course, Fort Hays State comes in as the same overwhelming underdog as PSU was. Led by super sophomores Sherron Collins and Darrell Arthur, KU will try and tune up before the 2007-08 regular season starts on Nov. 11.

Tuesday night, Kansas will continue their short march through the MIAA conference in order to warm up before the real season begins.

Last week, Collins led the way with 18-points, including four-three pointers. Mario Chalmers started things off for the Jayhawks with a three and followed it up with three more.

All American candidate Arthur started off slow but finished the second half with a strong performance, scoring 12-points on a variety of post moves. Senior center Sasha Kaun also started off hot, scoring 10-points, two of which coming off a vicious lob dunk from Collins after a steal.

KU's offense was led by guard play from the beginning. Forwards Arthur, Darnell Jackson, and center's Kaun and freshman Cole Aldrich will be asked to assert themselves more against Fort Hays State, as Self will need to rely on his big men for production in the low post, especially with star forward Brandon Rush on the bench.
