Improving Iowa State team up next for CU
Iowa State's 2007 season has included disappointing losses to Kent, Northern Iowa and Toledo. But since losing to Texas, 56-3, in week seven, the Cyclones have shown marked improvement under first year head coach Gene Chizik.
Iowa State played Oklahoma and Missouri tough in weeks eight and nine and they came away with a 31-20 victory against Kansas State last Saturday.
"I feel like we've made progress the last few weeks," confirmed Coach Chizik at his weekly press conference. "I feel like our kids are responding to what we're trying to coach. We have a long way to go in so many areas that we did not play well in Saturday, but as a team we functioned together well enough to win."
"I think they have been getting progressively better," Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins agreed. "They have battled some teams and taken some teams to the wall and weren't able to get it done but they did against K-State.
"I think they are a team that as the weeks have gone along, you see them understanding what it is they are trying to get done and executing better that way."
