UA lands three-star defensive lineman

Arizona's eleventh public commitment is in, as 6-foot-4, 232-pound La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat three-star defensive end Dominique Austin has verbally pledged to play football at the UA.

GOAZCATS.com watched Austin at the SoCal Nike Camp this past April and he was one of the most impressive defensive prospects in attendance.

"Austin, 6-4, 245 pounds is a good looking prospect with a nice upside," Rivals.com recruiting analyst Greg Biggins wrote following the camp. "He has a great frame, is very athletic and had a motor on him.

"He dominated the one on one drills at the NIKE Camp showing great pass rushing skills and the ability to beat his man with more than just one move."

Arizona initially offered Austin as an offensive lineman, a position he wasn't interested in playing. Austin's heart is on being a defensive lineman in college.

"I love tackling, hitting that quarterback and punishing the offense," Austin said. "God I hate offense; I want to punish the offense."

Recently, Austin's recruiting coach, Darrell Wyatt, approached the prospect about being a defensive lineman at the UA.
