GPC Video: The Jordy Nelson Story

A small-town kid done good. Kansas State receiver Jordy Nelson is so much more than that. He's a potential All-American on the football field, but an All-American boy off. A former walk-on as a safety out of Riley (Kan.) High School, just 20 minutes away from Manhattan, Nelson will play his last game at Bill Snyder Family Stadium this Saturday against Missouri.

Nelson will enter the game 99 receptions and 1,347 receiving yards for the season, both school records. At 2,563 receiving yards, Nelson will most likely end his eligibility second on the K-State career yardage list behind only Kevin Lockett. A humble star, Nelson has erupted into a prolific receiver who opposing defenses simply cannot contain because of his combination of size, strength, pass-catching skills and shocking speed.

In honor of the remarkable career and season that the "Pride of Riley County" has achieved, this GoPowercat.com video exclusive tells the story of Jordy Nelson. Shane Howard talks with Alan and Kim Nelson about their son's road to greatness, and also speaks with Jordy's high school football coach, Steve Wagner.

We hope you enjoy this special GoPowercat.com Video production produced by Shane Howard and captured by photographer Brian Olsen: GPC Video: The Jordy Nelson Story.
