Preview: KU vs. Washburn
A lot has changed since the No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks took the court against UMKC. With one player out with a recent injury, and another returning from one, Bill Self seemingly has a completely different team to field against the Washburn Ichabods. One story line stays the same, however, as Kansas will be heavily favored to move to 3-0 on the season as the big match-up with the Arizona Wildcats quickly approaches.
Self received some bad news Monday morning when it was discovered by team doctors that Sherron Collins had a small stress fracture in his foot. Collins rolled his ankle while driving to the basket in the second half of Sunday's contest against the 'Roos.
Post surgery, Collins is expected to miss up to six weeks of action while he stays off his newly repaired foot.
As it often does, good news followed bad news when Self announced junior star Brandon Rush, almost six months to the day of his late June surgery on a torn ACL, could play Thursday against Washburn.
While KU's head man said it was possible, everyone knows it's indeed likely, especially with the season's first big game taking place less than 10 days from now.
