Top prospects abound in Brenham-LBJ battle

On Saturday afternoon at Bryan High School, Brenham and Austin Lyndon B. Johnson met in a Texas state Class 4A-Division I first-round playoff matchup.

With college prospects all over their roster, the Cubs were expected to have a relatively easy time defeating LBJ. However, the Jaguars had something to say about that.

Led by senior D.J. Grant on offense and junior Kerry Hyder on defense, LJB took advantage of several Brenham mistakes as well as some big plays of their own to pull out a 20-18 victory. They will play Houston Furr next Friday night at A&M Consolidated while Brenham makes an unexpected early exit from the postseason.
