NU Notes: Colorado game still has a rivalry feel

Husker fans may not want to refer to the Nebraska vs. Colorado game as a true rivalry, but there is still something different about this game compared to others.

Maybe it's because the games still remains on the national stage, as it's played the day after Thanksgiving on ABC.

If there's one thing certain, the NU vs. CU game definitely gets played up a little bit more by head coach Bill Callahan and the rest of his coaching staff.

The last couple of years, Callahan actually had a buffalo head mounted in Nebraska's team meeting room.

Quarterback Joe Ganz even joked how the entire team has watched the buffalo hunting scene over and over again from the movie "Dances with Wolves."

Ganz joked that former NU offensive coordinator Jay Norvell actually got up and screamed "Tatonka" in front of the entire team after the movie scene. Tatonka is the Indian word for buffalo and it was the word used in Dances with Wolves by Kevin Costner after he guns down a few buffalo in the open field.
