Adams State up next for Wildcats

After winning handedly thanks to a strong second half against UMKC on Monday, Arizona will try to make it two consecutive victories as it takes on Adams State College tonight at McKale Center in Tucson.

Adams State holds a 2-0 record this season but lost to common opponent Northern Arizona by a score of 78-65 in a game that counted towards the Lumberjacks' record but was considered an exhibition game for the Division II Grizzlies.

The two biggest producers for first-year head coach Mark Murdock have been seniors Rece Hampton and Larry Charles, Jr..

Hampton, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound forward, leads Adams State in scoring through the first two games, averaging 18.5 points per outing and shooting 65% from the field. He also leads the team in rebounding with 7.5 per game with an average of five boards coming off the offensive glass.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Charles is a Tucson product from Cienega High School and has been a 16.5-point per game scorer early in the season. He gets to the free throw line frequently and has made 77% of his 22 attempts through two games. Charles also chips in an average of 3.5 assists and five rebounds through the first two games of the season.

The Grizzlies are not a very big team, usually running three-guard sets, but they are an experienced team.
