Martin preparing team for KC trip

Kansas State coach Frank Martin and the Wildcats survived the ice storm and after finals week they'll encounter a prep course for the Big 12 Tournament when they take the court for the first time inside Kansas City's Sprint Center on Sunday. K-State will face Florida A&M at the venue, which will serve as the host site for the conference tournament in March. Martin said he hoped to play a game in Kansas City each year.

You talked about the last six-game stretch being important for a variety of reasons. What about the next four non-conference games heading into Big 12 play? Is there a mission statement to those four games?

MARTIN: It doesn't change. Every game is an entity to itself and we'll approach it that way and you have to win the next game on your schedule. You have to prepare to do that. When you look at your schedule you've got to break it into segments and the thing that those six games brought to us is they were six consecutive games against possible NCAA teams. Just with such a young squad it was going to make us compete at a high level every single day. The Notre Dame game and the three games down in Florida being away from home were going to challenge us. Now we get to play three in a row at home to help us to continue growing. We're going to take those one at a time and continue to grow as a team.

Can you comment on Jamar Samuels and Dominique Sutton and what is their official availability?

MARTIN: I can only talk about guys at our school right now.
