Gimm makes official visit

Future Hawkeye Jonathan Gimm made his official visit to Iowa City this past weekend. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound tight end, who was born in Iowa but now lives in the Houston area, enjoyed his two days back in the Hawkeye State.

Gimm's host on the official visit was freshman safety Brett Greenwood. The three-star prospect also spent a lot of time with his older brother, who is currently a junior at the University of Iowa. During the visit, Gimm was able to get a closer look at many of the things he'll see on a daily basis next year.

As a senior, Gimm caught seven passes for 98 yards and a touchdown playing tight end at Westfield High School in Spring, Texas. Known as a punishing blocker, he helped lead the way as Westfield's run based offense racked up more than 3,000 yards rushing during their 10-3 season. The Hawkeyes look for Gimm to fill a similar role in college next year.

Gimm, who still has a lot of family in the state of Iowa, chose Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Nebraska, Kansas, Boise State, Rice, and Louisiana Tech when he committed back in August. The three-star prospect remains confident in his decision.
