Gooden: Missouri is the clear leader

This past weekend was one of the busiest for the Missouri Tigers when it came to hosting uncommitted recruits. One of those recruits was Pflugerville (TX) S Zaviar Gooden and he said that he was quite impressed with what he saw in Columbia.

One of the things that really stuck out to Gooden was Missouri's new football complex. He said that he was absolutely blown away when he saw what Missouri had to offer in the way of a training facility.

Gooden was hosted this weekend by Missouri's All-American safety William Moore and the two defenders got a good chance to talk about the Tigers and how everything could work for Gooden in Columbia.

Gooden enjoyed talking with a fellow safety, but admitted that he wasn't the only current Tiger that he talked with. Gooden also got the chance to talk with another All-American and was very happy for the chance to learn from nationally recognized athletes. He added that the personal experience of one Tiger defender.

Along with current tigers, Gooden spent quite a bit of time talking with other recruits who were in town to check out the Tigers. He said that he wasn't sure who might end up as Tigers, but he knew that a good time was had by all the young men in Columbia this weekend.

Before leaving town, Gooden sat down with Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel and the two talked about what could be if Gooden did decide to pledge to the Tigers. He said that along with coach Pinkel, he got a very good vibe talking with other Missouri coaches as well.

Coming into the weekend, Gooden had the Tigers at the top of his list. After a successful visit to Missouri, could the same still be said of the Tigers' place on his list?

One of the biggest competitors to the Tigers for Gooden have been the Oklahoma Sooners. Next weekend, Gooden will get the chance to compare the two up close and personal as he heads to Norman to take a look at the Sooners in person. He added that Sooner coach Bob Stoops would have something waiting for him when he got there.

After next weekend, Gooden said he should have a pretty good idea of where he would spend his college years.
