Hawkeyes add second grayshirt commit
The Iowa Hawkeyes have added their second grayshirt commit as in-state linebacker Jake Reisen made his decision tonight. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Reisen, who attends Iowa City Regina, made his choice one day after his official visit with the Hawkeyes.
Reisen was also considering a grayshirt offer from Iowa State and a scholarship offer from UNI, along with other FCS interest. After making his official visit to Iowa, where his host was fullback Brett Morse, the all-state performer decided he had seen enough and made the call to the coaching staff this evening.
As a grayshirt, Reisen will wait to join the team until next January at which time he will be on full scholarship. This fall, he will pay his own way and attend college part-time, so his eligibility clock will not start ticking until 2009 instead of 2008.
As a senior, Reisen racked up 154 tackles in leading Regina to a 12-1 record with their lone loss coming to Council Bluffs St. Albert in the Class 1A state championship game. He also carried the ball 100 times for 658 yards on offense, scoring 15 touchdowns. Reisen, who received college interest at linebacker, running back, and fullback, will come in as a middle linebacker at Iowa and cannot wait to get started in what he calls a dream come true.
