Plenty of reunions taking place between A&M, ISU

When Texas A&M faces Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum in Ames Tuesday at 7 p.m., it'll be a reunion of sorts for a number of people involved, but none more prevalent than the reunion of two head coaches. A&M head coach Mark Turgeon and Iowa State coach Greg McDermott knew each other quite well as coaches in the Missouri Valley conference.

Turgeon and McDermott faced off in the MVC 11 times over five years while coaching Wichita State and Northern Iowa, respectively. McDermott held the edge in the series, 7-4, but Tuesday the two coaches will start a new one in the Big 12 conference.

"It'll be good to see him. He's a good friend," Turgeon said. "When things weren't going well for me he called me. It meant a lot to me."

With 11 meetings against each other under their belts, both probably know a little about each others' tendencies. Turgeon said it'll probably be easier to scout for him and his coaching staff than it will be his players, however.
