Houston safety no longer a sleeper

Spring football has been around in the Texas high school ranks for close to a decade. While it is used by coaches to install new schemes and prepare their teams for the fall, it has given the players an added advantage.

With college coaches constantly on the road visiting schools, a relatively unknown player can jump out and get his name on the recruiting map rather quickly. That has been exactly the case for Houston Jersey Village safety Steven Campbell.

"It seems that every school that comes through here sends him an offer," said Jersey Village head coach David Snokhous. "He's such a downhill player. He'll come and knock your head off. He's a soft-spoken kid off the field but he's a different person when you put those pads on him. He knocked a couple guys out of games last year."
