Next stop on Frederick tour: Madison

Four campuses, in four weeks, that's how Travis Frederick is spending the initial month of his summer vacation.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive/defensive tackle from Walworth (Wis.) Big Foot High is hoping to add a few more scholarships to his collection in the months leading up his final prep season.

"It's been going pretty well, I went to Minnesota last weekend and I did very well there, I was very happy with my performance," Frederick told BadgerBlitz.com Tuesday night. "Actually, I just visited the University of North Dakota today and I'm at the North Dakota State camp right now.

"Then I'll be going to the University of Wisconsin next weekend and then maybe Iowa the following week because they had to cancel their camps because of the flooding."

An all-state performer on both sides of the ball as a junior, Frederick, one the top members of a very deep and talented 2009 in-state class, may have to travel outside Wisconsin to play his collegiate ball.

"Actually, I haven't been in contact with them (Badger coaching staff) too much recently," said Frederick, who currently holds offers from Air Force and Navy. "There's just not been a very open line of communication."

Still, it will not be a wasted trip when he visits Madison in a few days.

"I'm excited, Wisconsin's always a good learning camp," he said. "I'd like to go in there and pick up some things I can take back to my team and hopefully help the team do better. My biggest thing is just to go there and pick something up and get better."

Though he excels on both sides of the ball, college coaches are recruiting Frederick primarily as an offensive linemen.

"I believe offensive tackle; the offensive line," said Frederick when asked where teams project him to play in college. "I guess it depends on what level and what team it is. Some want to work me at guard and some at tackle.

"I'd say whatever helps the team. If I had my choice I would probably play offense. But if they want me to play defense, then that's what I'll do."

Outside his two current offers and camp visits, Frederick continues to get interest from UNLV, Indiana, Purdue, Stanford, Kansas State, Duke, Colorado, Ball State and Army.
