After tough road, Gorrer back on the field
Cornerback Danny Gorrer has earned his way into the starting lineup as a redshirt freshman in 2005, which happened to be the same season that Texas A&M ranked last in the nation in pass defense. Since then, Gorrer has been an integral part of the secondary that has steadily improved, but continued to have its hardships against the multiple spread offenses in the Big 12 conference.
His greatest obstacle, however, came at the end of the 2007 season when a knee injury put his football career in question. Knee surgery and an offseason of rehabilitation later and Gorrer is back on the field and ready to contribute a senior season that at one time he thought would never materialize.
"I'm just happy to be back with the guys running around and flying around," Gorrer said. "From coming from thinking I would never play football again to being back out there I'm just happy. I'm excited about being back with the group. I'm just happy and everything is falling into place and I believe I'm a little ahead of schedule."
The remnants of his knee surgery are still readily apparent as Gorrer has gone through the first few practices of August training camp with a knee brace. It's uncomfortable for Gorrer, but he said he is getting through the awkwardness alright.
