Lester preparing for big senior season

You remember him, right?

You know, Auburn running back Brad Lester. The one who scored 17 touchdowns his first two seasons on the Plains -- as a backup.

Lester was all set to take over as Auburn's feature back last season before an academic suspension kept him out of the first five games. He still managed to rush for a career-high 530 yards but was somewhat overshadowed by Ben Tate's team-leading 903 rushing yards and the big-play ability of Mario Fannin.

But a new season and a new offense has Lester back on top the depth chart and confident he can be a big part of Tony Franklin's spread offense.

"Coach Franklin's putting me in the best position possible to get in one-on-one situations and score points," said Lester. "So far, I love the system, and I'm looking forward to the season.

"This is going to be probably the biggest year for me. I'm really excited."

Franklin is equally excited about Lester, who he says is a perfect fit in his offense that emphasizes quickness, speed and the ability to make plays in space.
