Carroll taking offense to new heights

Wesley Carroll's career at Mississippi State started with a bang.

The quarterback led the Bulldogs to six wins as a starter and a bowl victory as a true freshman. Now Carroll is set to prove that there will be no sophomore jinx.

"I didn't know everything that I would have liked to have known last year," Carroll said. "I feel a lot more comfortable. The guys that are around the offense all feel comfortable and every day we are continually getting better. I can't wait to see the first game. If we play to our potential right off the bat, there is no question that we can play with anybody."

Carroll feels that the Bulldogs have what it takes to be one of the elite teams in the Southeastern Conference but haven't received it's just due from opposing teams.

"We feel like we deserve respect," Carroll said. "We want to show that we work as hard or harder than anybody. We feel that we haven't got the respect from everybody but that's fine all at the same time because that's what our mission is this year. We want to gain respect in the conference and gain respect in the country and be looked at as a team that can play with anyone."
