Bruins look sharp

The Bruins had a crisp and well run practice in all facets of the game on Tuesday afternoon. The offense played well. The defense was, as always, dominating and was getting pushed to be even better and the special teams also had a fine day overall. The work in progress appeared to be coming together, but the true test will be Monday Evening when the Bruins host Tennessee at the Rose Bowl.

As is customary after every practice, UCLA head coach, Rick Neuheisel met with the media to answer questions.

Did you feel they were too rested out there and that they need to be more fatigued?

Neuheisel: "We just decided to our conditioning, more of a typical fashion, rather than incorporate in the two-minute, but that will probably be the last hard conditioning day we will have and will just try to get their legs fresher now as we get closer to game time.

"I thought it was a good practice. We tweaked the schedule a little, we added a few more team periods of how Tennessee looks and I thought the guys responded favorably, so I am pleased."

How was Terrence Austin holding up?

Neuheisel: "Terrence was fine. Did we ever dodge a bullet. We feel very fortunate about that. Although we did get a little injury today to one of our transfer kids, Kai Maiava, he hurt his knee. We will know the extent after a MRI, hopefully he won't be out for too long."

How did Micah Kia look out there?

Neuheisel: "You know I'll have to watch the tape. It didn't look like he was complaining about it. It looked like he got through it, in terms of pain tolerance so we will just see how he in getting his job done. It can only get better from here, right?"
